There are too many rumors and speculations arround Bob Marley's death. Many a people has misconstrued his death. What is the actual cause for Bob Marley's death?
It all started with an accident that happened in a soccer game while he was on a tour in France. Marley injured his right hallux (big toe) during the soccer game. The entire nail had come off and the injury refused to heal. It was getting worse day by day. Doctors who treated his injury recomended amputation. Rastafari belief that the body must be "whole". Marley who strongly believes his religion refused amputation. But later that summer, Marley had allowed an orthopedic surgeon to perform a skin graft on his injured toe.
In September 1980, Marley fainted on stage while performing a show as a part of Uprising Tour at Madison Square Garden. Next day he collapsed while jogging in NYC's Central Park. The tour was cancelled. Doctors diagnosed that Marley is suffering with a brain tumor as the result of the untreated cancer in his toe. on September 23, 1980 Marley performed his final show at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Doctors verified that Marley had cancer in the brain, lung, liver, and stomach. Finally he flied to Germany for the fanal attempt to get saved his own life. He celebrated his 36th and final birthday while he was having treatments in Germany. Unfortunately treatment didn't work. Marley desided to die at his home so he flied back. But he couldn't finish the journy. He died at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Miami, Florida on the morning of May 11, 1981 at the age of 36. His funeral took place on May 21, 1981 and thousands of people came to give their final respect to their beloved singer. May Bob Marley live in our hearts forever!
